Escape from the city ...

I grew up on a farm. Correction, it is actually a ranch (we don't grow crops). It just so happens that AP also grew up in the country on a farm (with crops -- LOTS of crops). As I sit in the middle of this concrete oasis I forget that most kids don't get to just take off running through fields, or chase cows, or jump into the pond on a hot day.

A few weeks ago we took our friends and their four kids to AP's family farm just south of Columbus. It was a riot!!! Two minutes before we left Josiah (pictured above after swimming in wheat in the grain cart) told me that he "wants to be Batman AND a farmer" when he grows up. And, well, I believe him. That kid was a total natural around the farm. These are a few shots of him in his newly discovered element:

Oh the Seurkamp kids, so much fun to be around! It's great they got to go to the farm.

Rachel, Rachel, Rachel, It's not the same out here on the farm without you and your brothers. The cows and donkey are at peace, and the birds and squirrels do not fear for their lives.
