So we'll be here till midday, then I'll make that infamous trek down to pick up my chariot and drive it around to the front of the hospital, where my wife AND MY NEW BABY will be waiting for me. And I will strap her into a car seat and be impossibly worried that I'm strapping her in too tight, at which point the nurse will look at me with amusement and mutter something along the lines of "Sir, the straps need to touch her body." And then I'll get behind the wheel, and drive 2 miles an hour all the way home, glancing in my rearview mirror at the secondary mirror behind her car seat just so I can make sure she's ok/smiling/hasn't climbed out of the seat and rolled down the rear window and made a break for it.
Then we'll enter our waterless home and the adventure begins. I inquired with our nurse last night if the "Call the nursery and send her there for a few hours while R and I sleep" service was available at my house, and I got a blank stare. Guess it isn't.
A few final pics from the last day and a half here at the hospital. Enjoy.

I think it is totally clear from that photo that Cana likes me best. Big time.
Haha...Amy...you're so fun! :o) She is just so precious. I LOVE the feet shots! Adorable. Can't wait to meet her...and hear all about the birth story!
LOVE THE FEET+TEENYFEET shot. Good luck with the trip home!!
Matching "finger toes." I love it. You have the sweetest baby in the world! Congratulations again. K8
I'm just glad Cana has R's good looks, since she evidently has Andrew's wrinkely feet. :)
safe trip home.
Andrew & Rachel,
Congats on Cana's arrival and welcome to the new baby club! She is beautiful. Sofia, Tricia & I hope you continue to be blessed with a happy and well sleeping baby. Andrew did you ever think you could love someone so much that it hurts just one second after seeing them? Congrats again!
How sweet...my husband is sappy! You know, these little ones will do that to you. It is amazing just how much they steal your heart right from you chest and it feels SO good!
Can't wait to meet Cana and get the girls together!
I remember that first drive home from the hospital so well. Never been so careful, ten and two all the way. Even more surreal was the arriving home. No more doctors, nurses, visitors (for a while). Just us and this kid sitting in a little car seat in the middle of the room. What next? (Good times, that's what.)
