Dearest Apple,
I would like to thank you for introducing me to the world of personal computers back in 1988 with the Apple 2GS. Its magnificent tube monitor featuring a black background and green characters called to me in the night as a seven year old. On it's clunky keyboard I played hours of Oregon Trail, during which I died a thousand deaths of what I read as "destiny" but was really "dysentery". How embarrassing. I also printed hundreds of cards and banners utilizing your Print Shop program, always being careful to remove the perforated holes on the side margins. I even honed my typing skills on Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. Thanks to you, typing this blog takes mere minutes instead of hours.
Then, alas, you were replaced by a PC in our house. A Compaq Presario that had internet access via dial up AOL. I didn't miss you. I didn't think I would ever go back. Our relationship went dark. I think sometimes we need some space to grow.
While we were apart you were studying the human brain, clearly planning to captivate the hearts of the world once more. You did not dissapoint. I love my MacBook, we've been seeing eachother daily for about a year. It is sleak, easy to use, and does everything I imagined a computer could do.
Last week, I met a new friend of yours that changed my life. Sweet iPhone -- how did I live without you? Your intuitive design and sleek feel have already revolutionized my world. I can tell where my friends are at any given moment, pick a local restraunt with out thinking twice, compare prices on items I am shopping for with those available on the internet, take pictures, send Email, update facebook and so much more.
Thank you Apple, for not giving up even when we gave up on you. Now, if you could just put Oregon Trail on my iPhone ...
