It's RP ... claiming a little space on Shine On.
Thank you for all of your support and ohhhhhhhs and ahhhhhs over Cana (yep, you say it "Cay-Na"). She's really precious, and we've determined that she's a keeper.
Special, special thanks to AP and Jen who were INCREDIBLE support for me through the entire day, including laughing at all of my jokes in-between contractions and pushing. We were howling and having a great time and then we were having a super intense time, and then we were laughing and having a great time ...
I am sure that AP and Jen were totally exhausted at the end of it all. Personally, I can't thank God enough for giving some one the idea to create an epidural. Seriously, major gift. Did you know that contractions can get so bad you feel like puking? They can. The epidural takes all that away. I still maintain that the worst part of labor was the IV in my wrist. That thing was freaking annoying.
I picked the name ... before we knew we were pregnant I knew our first daughter would be Cana. It is the place where Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding feast, where Mary showed that she was an intercessor, and that by going to Jesus with a pure heart on behalf of others can change their life. KB pointed out that Jesus obeyed his mother, too. All good things. We'll claim those over our daughter all day. Elizabeth is my middle name and is just plain classy ifIdosaysomyself.
So, here we are, a little family of three ... starting a new adventure. What a sweet time.

Beautiful baby, beautiful family!
I hope the delivery was easier on Andrew. I know they were always easier on me once they gave my wife the epidural. ;)
Dear Rachel,
Congratulations to you and your family. What a lovely girl your Cana is! She looks to have your chin, don't you think? She is just perfect.
Welcome to the other side of pregnancy my friend,
Nancy
Beautiful. Love the name. So many congratulations to you both. You're going to be incredible parents.
Cana is absolutely beautiful! Ya'll did a great job! And, I definitely agree with you on epidurals....lifesavers!!!
Instead of reading our boring ole bedtime story, tonight Hannah & Leah learned what a blog is and made us look at every pic and read every word of the last days' posts. They especially liked Rachel's "fancy pink jammies" and that cute baby named Cana. JT couldn't take his eyes off his future bride. He continues to save himself for her ... only 25 more years.
Hey Anastasia and I read about the wedding feast in Cana tonight (yeah Tim - we teach our kids to read the BIble - not blogs at our house!!!!) Funny thing - after we read it I asked Anastasia why she thought you named her for that story - and she said, "Cause Jesus listened to his mother!" Seriously and I didn't even "guide" her that way ... like mother like daughter huh? Are you praying in Cana's ear - she LOVES It!
She's breathtakingly beautiful! I'm so happy for all of you. I can't wait to meet her!
